Would anybody know the following please? Are s2 driveshafts the same as 1986 lux shafts and are automatic 1982 driveshafts the same as lux 1986 manual? many thanks Alan |

S2 driveshafts are much bigger both the shaft & the CVs. I thought all pre S2 & non Turbos were the same but I assume from 911 Pervs post that they changed in 85 1/2 or that the Auto runs a different shaft. |

I know the S and S2 driveshafts are the same and I think they are the same as Turbo models. Rich |

Can you retro fit S2 driveshafts & cv's to a 9442? |

Anyone no what real gains can be had from this? Heard the s is faster with a n/a box. There must be a reson Porsche used the box it's got at the cost off speed. Maybe top end? |

I though the running gear from the 220 turbo was the same as the S, just the final drive ratio different, the reason the n/a box is quicker are the ratios, this makes the top speed slower |

J.J. wrote: Can you retro fit S2 driveshafts & cv's to a 9442? I see no reason why not, the flanges are the same. In my late lux I ran a lux gearbox, a turbo box and an s2 box, so the cv joints would certainly interchange. I would have thought it would only matter if the car was an early offset possibly meaning the shafts would be shorter (not sure on that one). No clue about auto's. |

Thanks for that. I need 4 new cv's & wondering if the drive shafts are the same at the hub end. I have a new box to go in when it's finished. If so will just get a couple of rebuilt S2 drive shafts. Won't be a lot different in cost. It's the length that may be different?? Finally found output bearings for the diff for sensible money. £7.50 each!! There over £50 from Porsche ![]() |

My experiance with CV. The NS inner cv was making noise. Couldn't get a new one quick and needed car. Had an 02 skoda driveshaft laying about. Took cv from skoda and compared with 922. Same size, same spline fitting and bolt locations. Fitted the skoda cv to 944 and fitted the shaft to Porsche. Results so far - car running ok. No noise from driveshaft. Don't know if this is advised, but for me it worked. Hope it's useful JJ ![]() |
