As it's getting hard 2 find suitable condition 944 seats, I'm wondering if it's worth getting say boxster or 911 front seats. These seem 2 be cheaper.

Are they a simple swap?

Anything up to and including 993 seats should just drop in. 928 seats seem to divide opinion as to their compatibility.
Beyond that I imagine they could be made to fit but would need more work.

928 seats look massive so not sure. I read on one of the US forums that latter 996/986 seats need the runners swapped with a few holes drilled, but that maybe BS.

I fitted Boxster seats in my 944, had to re-drill the runners to fit. Removed them and fitted 964 seats as the Boxster seats weren't that comfortable and looked wrong. (Also had some 968 Club sports seats in at one point).

I fitted 968 front seats to my 924, just need some back seats to match, did any 968's have back seats? i never see any for sale.

Not the same as your back seats. It was a pad and head rest, a bit like the 911 was.

You could get a good set of 944 seats, I think they will fit.

I'm confused now, when you look at this one it is how I thought 968 back seats were,

http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&Item=180537474814&Category=9860&_trkparms=algo%3DLVI%26its%3DI%26otn%3D2

But this one has 944 style rear seats, is it because it is an import?

http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&Item=110564182030&Category=9860&_trkparms=algo%3DLVI%26its%3DI%26otn%3D2

I think we need a 968 expert to tell us what is right and wrong.

I thought that 944 and 968 seats were the same, except the 968 has a split rear seat whereas this (I think) was an option on the 944, obviously the 968CS may have had the rear seat delete, on all i'm led to believe that the seats are glued to the floor and take a bit of removing

My 944S2 has spit rears. With split rears, you cannot use the roll away luggage cover - have to use that piece of black canvas stuff.

Water cooled seats can be adapted to fit - its usually easier to remove them from their runners, rather than trying to adapt the original runners to fit your car.

968 rear seat squabs and carpets are far less frequently available for sale because they were glued in so well. I know one prep firm who send 968s to be acid dipped with thiese parts still fitted, because theyre so difficult to remove (and theyre frequently damaged when you can get them out).
