Think I need to replace the wiper blades on the 944. Any advice on which ones I should go for and approx price?

Also, one front wiper and the rear wiper - make a boing noise when in use. Sounds like the spring in the arm, any known cure for this?

Thanks for reading.

Hi,

The Bosch wiper blades are pretty good. I've heard that you can fit a Renault Megane wiper blade on the rear. It apparently is the biggest wiper blade at 22" giving best wiper coverage on the rear screen. (Size matters?)

Can't help with the rear wiper 'boing' problem though. Sounds like the spring. Jim or someone will be along in a minute,

Ben :bounce:

+1 for Bosch wipers. A good tip is to snip the ends of the rubber at a 45% angle. Apparently, it stops the rubber from splitting. Anybody else heard that?

+1 again for Bosch, I think from memory the drivers side should have a spolier fitted and is one inch longer than the passenger side (or is on an S2) 19" passenger and 20"drivers. For the rear I just buy the longest available that will still fit I know a Citroen Picasso is over 22" as I used to own two of them and have re-used some spare wiper rubbers I had. The noise is probably a spring catching probably the one which holds the arm onto the screen chack it has been put in the right way round maybe it has been off for some reason. I got my last set of front wipers from Halfords as in a rush I think they were about £15 - £18 for the pair

Another vote for Bosch - I bought my last pair (with spoiler on driver's side) from ebay for about £12 all in.

Not something I've tried for myself but PIAA make a silicone wiper which is supposed to leave a trace of silicone on the windscreen causing water to run off the glass when it rains. Heard good things about them on PH and intend on getting a set for my 944 to aid the fact it's got a LHD wiper set up.

lot cheaper than halfords.

ive got a spring noise too at the moment, springs are tired - anyone swapped them out? wondering wether to try the opc or if theres a cheapo vw alternative.

Guess it will be the Bosche blades then. The fronts on the site are 19, the ones on my car are currently 18. I will check the travel.

I replaced mine with a set of retro fit aero style wipers from here http://www.autobulbsdirect.co.uk/home.p ... QgodVDybFA
Cost was around £15 for the pair if I remember correctly, they are excellent and I wont be returning to the old style wipers any time soon :)

Good shout! Been thinking about these for a while as my blades seems useless at motorway speeds.

Ordered up the full set of 3 for £21 inc delivery and got 2 LED side light bulbs as a free gift!

Sorted

Stuart
