Am I right in thinking if I remove spark plugs, and remove the rocker cover, r be able 2 see the chain tensoner, and crank shafts? I want 2 look 4 thooht wear. Anything else? 2 keep an eye out for. Iv got a spear chain and tensor. So I can replace, Jim has mention it's possible 2 do this myself. I thought I MIT as well clean up and respary the rocker cover while it's off. Should i just sand it and spray with high temp paint? Or do I need 2 get it acid bathed 1st?

Remove the HT leads & unbolt the cam cover. You may find it easier if you undo the fuel lines also.

If you need to change the chain / cams then its a bit more involved and worth doing the belts at the same time if they are due soon.

Thanks, the belts were done 1st job when I got the car along with pump and rollers, I then had the head gaskit done and it was pointed out I had a slight oil leak from the front, which the belts would need 2 be removed again. As oil composition isn't high iv left it, figured r change the belt sooner then later and do the leak then. It was also pointed out that the tensour may need changing soon, The chain tensoure and chain was replaced at 65000 and it now on 115000. It was also pointed out that the tensours pads. So I was going 2 have the whole lot done, new belts as well, while there off MIT as well replace. but it's expenses I ant got right now. So manly want 2 put my mind at ease.

Well, a bit off a set back, one off the cam
Cover bolts snapped! After a few hours of gentle sirgury. I got it out. Good new theeht on the cogs are all good with little wear. There's a few marks on the under side off the cam cover from the chain. But is seems tight. So a new chain , which wasn't a surprise.

Painting the cam cover, I was going 2 go polished and red Porsche script. But after sanding a polishing there's a few deep marks that I could only remove with a dremil bit. Which in turn has left slight indentations, which show up when the light reflecting, so I think I'm gona go black with red script. Will up load some pics when I can
