Post subject: | Headlight adjustment |
Started a new thread as this maybe useful for others. Headlights on my 944 are not aligned very well. ![]() Alasdair suggested aligning using the mounting points to the chassis. Thanks Fella. So to be sure: ![]() Closer look: ![]() I can see the two bolt heads going into the Chassis leg - this will allow some fore and aft movement, but is this what my head light needs? How will this bring the light pod upwards? |

The bolts to adjust it are slightly further to the bottom of the first pic. There are 3 in a triangular arrangement and if you slacken them off and move the bracket up and down the height of the headlight will adjust. Did the same to mine but due to receiving a slight bump in the past I couldn't get it exactly right but it's much closer now. |

Rob is right, the triangle bracket us what ur looking 4, there's 4, one each side off each lamp, the best way 2 get 2 the out side near the fender, is thought the wheel arc liner. This can be a right pain, u need very thin long arms. Just about get a socket on the bolts but can only turn them about 1/10 each time. Took me almost an hour last time, inside are easy but 2 get it perfect ur need 2 adjust the outside as well. U may very well need spacers as well, these insure the gaps even both side of the light lid. b4 my turbo end change I had 4 spaces one side and none the other, removed them all when I changed the front 2 a turbo/s2. On the pansangers side u can get in thought the hole below the header tank, all do it's still a pain. Best of luck |

As Terry said there's one on either side, the outer ones can be reached from inside the wing. On mine I only needed to adjust the inner ones so with any luck you can save yourself the hassle of climbing in there too. |

No gents, the way the lamp sits closed is governed by the fore and aft movement of the clamps that the bar sits on. The triangular plates purely hold the headlight pivots and also govern the height of the unit at the back. If you look at Ravs picture, the gap is all at the back! The opening and closing of the lamps is by the fork at the bottom of the pick. I have seen these packed out with cable ties before to try and get the height right. There are also stops for the max height of the pods although the rubbers have usually fallen off long ago. Alasdair |

Well, the triangle thing worked 4 mine, when I put turbo badge panel on it was higher the an n/a and even with the turbo lids. Still needed resetting. Iv no dought u no a lot more then me. But from the pic it look like raising the front right corner would lower the back left corner. Ethir way good luck. |

Pictures would be a great help. Haven't really looked in the car to see where these bolts would be but having trouble working out which ones they are in my head. Gives me something else to put on the to do list when I can get my head around exactly how to do it. |

I think some pics would be usefull, When I changed from n/a 2 turbo lids I need 2 make adjustments. I used the triangle bolts and this helped a lot, on side is perfect the other needs a bit more, thought it needed adjustment on the inside off the wing, but maybe this is what I need. Noticed that the stops seem 2 be preventing one side by a 1 mm. So maybe this will work 4 me as well |

Pictures fixed. No to try and help with some clearer shots - Final result: ![]() So you need to find the two bolts that hold the mechanism into the chassis rails. ![]() A closer look: ![]() Look for the rusty bolt head right in the middle of the shot. There is another in front of it towards the nose of the car. You can see the clean area where i have moved the fixing point. |
