Cars been all day on the dyno at Chipwizards. Mixed results to be honest. Still have issues with the engine. Wayne thinks the camshafts suspect. Cam timing too maybe. He used to race one of these so I think he knows what there capable of. So it's tear it all down again now! Good news is its very strong from idle to 4000rpm. Best gain was 30lbs of torque at 2000rpm which makes it feel like a bigger engine! Just when it should really get into it's stride it's all over! :banghead: One day I'l get it right.

how frustrating is that !

I just take it for granted that my S2 just pulls to the red line without a single cough stutter or anything.

I have to say I don't like the look of the brace to the front wheel spoke. its not like the front wheel is locked or chocked even. I would be very unhappy with that arrangement on my car to be honest.

Peanut. The car didn't produce enough power to need the chocks! Really really fed up with it. Its good compared to most 8v's but nowhere near good enough. The power it has at 2000 to 4000 rpm shows real potential. Theres no oil leaks & the oil pressure held up well. Engine temp's good so it could be worse. Injectors are now cleaned & set. Having driven it to Kendal yesterday it does go pretty well. But not well enough to justify the trouble & expense.

Really sorry 2 hear ur happy jj. Just out of curiosity what is it producing? How's it feel when ur in the drivers seat? I heard old cars will run at a less the stock figures. But Iv had a little test the other day and sense the pro max chip and running 97 oct. I hit 70 in 2nd 100 in 3rd and 130 in 4th, which is an extra 10 more in each gear then b4. My car is silghty lighter, but only by 40-50kg no spare wheel and jack, boot cover lighter forbes glass wing mirrors and rear spoiler, rear wiper delete, plus the turbo front seemed lighter the the n/a.

MIT try again in just my underwear 2 keep the weight down lol

Top speed not much indication of power. Mine was hitting 140mph on the dyno. It feels quick off the line & I had no idea there was a serious problem. No coughs No stutters. You just can't tell. Well down on power though. Wayne calls chips copy & paste tuning but says they give him a good living repairing the damage caused by them. Oxygen sensors don't cure generic maps. Often running lean enough to do damage. Sometimes they can give good results so long as your car is a good match for the one it was designed for. But with old cars thats often not the case. Hes booked up for months in advance so doesn't need the business. It's amazing to watch him work. He reads hexadecimal like english. All I saw was a table of numbers!

I don't know anything about the work you've had done to the engine and engine management system so I cannot even speculate really. Have you upgraded the injectors ? and or increased the fuel pressure ? Only time I had a similar inexplicable lack of power problem after a rebuild was when the cam belt was put back one tooth out .

Have you had the chip programming re-checked ? good luck anyhow

It's been fully remapped. Injectors cleaned & serviced. (They were bad.) Hoping it's just a timing issue but it was checked twice so thats not too hopeful. Dreading checking the cam & finding it's ok.........Pull it in bits next week. Need it on the road at the moment.

good luck. Pity you didn't have a spare ECU so you could experiment with a different fuel and ignition profile first
