Post subject:  clutch slave cylinder removal.....

Hi All
Can I remove the clutch slave cylinder with the starter motor in situ?
I ask as my starter motor's connections look very crusty and suspect they will shear if I try to undo them....

My slave cylinder is weeping.

Thanks

Ian

You can Paul if you are careful and have a ramp!

Certainly much easier without the starter in position.
Sounds as though the starter could do with a bit of a clean - 2 birds with one stone?
Not a tricky job, even I managed it! Used an Easibleed to bleed afterwards - just don't have too high a pressure....

I dare say Alasdair is right and that you could wriggle it out without removing the starter but I've taken 2 off different cars and getting bolts undone hasn't been that much of an issue. They are quite well made fortunately.

I agree its not difficult to do as a job - recently changing the master cylinder and bleeding that was fine.
Just that the feeds to the starter are very crusty. Might try to remove the starter bolts and then hang/hold it clear.
Another job..... :?

I'd give the connections on the starter a good coating with penetrating fluid and then see if they come off easily after a good soak.
