Hi,

Had a good look round the car yesterday, (after i cleared all the snow off it  )....found a little hole in the rear lh sill

Its not horendous, the structure of the sill is sound (gave it a good knock with a "little hammer"..no rot).

My q's is on the RH sill there is a small pressed in "head of an arrow" in the centre lower section of the sill. on the LH sill ..nothing, i'm thinking its maybe had a sill replacement. looks a good repair if it has, i.e no blobs of mig etc.

Anyway repair wise any thoughts ...Jim did yours start like this ! >>>hope not

Cheers

If there isn't a dimple in the middle, then it's been replaced. (The dimple is only there to show you where the jacking point is.)

Hi,

Cheers,.... definitley no dimple...so its been replaced, no probs, did a bit of searching and i found clubautosport do a sill rear panel section so i've drooped a email to Mick to get a bit more info on his experience of the repair/costs etc. The main front section "looks" ok, need to strip off the body schultz to get a better idea of the condition and go from there.

Thanks

It may be better you giving them a ring, as I've found they don't reply to their e-mails too often.

Just for the record, Club Auto Sport replaced both of my sills including one rear section and I'm really pleased with the results. If it wasn't for the dimples missing from the sills, it would be impossible to tell. :D

Cheers, were they oversills of a cut out the whole sill job like Jim's ?

What was cost like..reasonable? (did they schultz and paint them) ?

Just spent they day removing the old cracked Heli-tape sections (hot air gun and adhesive remover) Lot of work but looks a lot better, made some templates to get some new ones cut before i stripped them.

Hi Derrick,

I can sympathis with the effort it takes to get those strips off. I didnt put them back in the end and sprayed a few coats of soneguard as an undercoat. So far so good....

Hi Gazza,

When you did your sills what did you use for the stone chip ? was it a body schultz ( gives a speckled factory like finish)

No they are not oversills, I don't think oversills would be possible on a 944. The cost? Well I can't really say, as I had a lot of other work done at the same time, so the price I was quoted was for everything. (I'm not sure what schultz is, but they did paint them, yes.)
