I was having a look around the engine on my 944S the other day and noticed that the vacuum hose for the fuel regulator was disconnected.

What would this mean for the engine? Would it cause the fuel pressure to be too high or perhaps too low? I was just wondering if this had anything to do with the engine destroying itself?

I think the FPR maintains a relative pressure between the fuel rail and the manifold. Its not always 2.5 Bar its always 2.5 Bar above manifold pressure, when working correctly. This is what allows the injectors to maintain a constant flow rate despite the manifold pressure chaning with throttle/rpm etc. So with the pipe disconnected rather than being 2.5 Bar above manifold pressure its 2.5 Bar above atmospheric pressure.
