Doing the usual fettling for the MOT over the weekend and discoveres both sidelights were not working.Ended up drilling 3 screws out to remove the lense / reflector unit to get to the bulbs.Problem is that the back housing has lost ( as in sheared off ) two of the plastic inserts that hold the captive nuts and the other two have drilled off screws seized solid.I have in the past managed to bodge it with araldite etc , but it has now reached the point of replacement. It appears that the housings ( 951.631.211.00 / 212.00 ) are not available seperately from Porsche ( unless you buy the whole light fitting for some £250+ ) and I suspect that most secondhand ones will be suffering form the same sort of damage.Does anybody know if and where they can be obtained?

Cheers
Toby

All the adverts I have seen have been for lenses only, I think I saw a pair of complete units on Frazerpart Porsche a while ago but they were expensive, I know you can replace the 3 in one light (fog, driving and sidelight) with side and driving lights as I have seen them in the Us advertising replacement to EU spec (althought this would lose the foglights I might try this when mine go as I dont use the front fogs anyway.

This is a dreadful design from Porsche. I have just sorted out my o/s one at the weekend, was very fortunate to find a back with 3 usable lugs at Alasdair's place. They are not available on their own, only complete at the £250+ you say.

Alasdair has about 6 cars at the mo with S2/turbo light units, all seized and useless in one way or another. You have to drill the heads off the screws and then drill out the remainders (carefully!) from the brass lugs. If successful replace with stainless screws and copper slip them. If you do get in replace all the bulbs!

Probably not much help but just my tuppence worth!

Stuart
