I thought about that too Roy - but knew I'd not be able to drill squarely through the joint.

Hi On my 944s2 the wiper mechanism joint under bonnet keeps popping out. Any suggestions? |

if its worn out replace that arm - propper way to fix it other method, heat the opening to the plastic joint with a soldering iron to close it up a little and pop it back on If your having problems popping it back on, use a large pair of waterpump/pipe plyers with an offset head |

Just had the same problem - in the end I replaced it. Its fiddly to fit though. I couldn;t remove the fresh air blower motor (my screws had rusted heads) but was able to unscrew the wiper unit and linkages to get enough access around the fresh air motor to lever off the old worn linkage and press on the new one. i did a repair on a friends 944, locate the 2 parts correctly then drill a small hole through both parts in the middle of the cup , then fasten together with a small nut and bolt but do not tighten to much to allow free movement. it has lasted for 3 years and counting on his car and i can not see it fialing again with this repair in place. |

For working on your own car the drilling and bolting is a good idea. All depends which arm you have which needs replacing and how much it costs for a replacement. In the workshop its often a mine field because we have to always work in the customers best interests at saving them costs, and if doing it the official way with a replacement part works out cheaper than the labour, then that what we have to recommend. However if its your own car, and your time does not equal money, I can see that the drill and bolt method is a good idea as long as your happy with it as a solution.

Is the new arm still available. I had to drill mine as I couldn't obtain a replacement.  Chickened out & got an engineer to do it on a pillar drill.

Mine also failed around xmass, i just tied a shoe lace round it and a few cable ties, worked so far, about 3-4000 miles. Would this be an MOT failure? |

The new part is still available, takes between 3 and 5 days to get one in. We normally have used ones available if anyone needs one. |

Slightly different but mine screams when first switched on and for a few wipes before it shuts up. Sounds as though it needs lubricating but no amount of wd40/oil etc works. I'm struggling to actually get the whole mechanism off as one bolt seems to be under the blower mechanism. Surely there is a way of getting it out without dismantling all that? I still think that it just needs a good clean and lubricate. Any suggestions? |
