The main '!' red warning light flashes on (and goes off very quickly) in my 1991 Turbo, seems to be when I take bends fairly sharply or put my foot down - so under moderate driving really, not nutter mode - if I do drive really hard it comes on more often. I thought it might be oil low or pads, but not the case, and as no other warning light comes on (though possibly the first one to the right does sometimes (next to high beam) I don't know what else to check. Maybe saying the LSD is operating ? Car sailed through MOT last week (apart from brake lines and slicks..), is running at really low emissions (69ppm), normal unleaded and has done 135k. Any ideas appreciated before I take it to France in the summer ! Thanks Mark Wibberley |

Have you checked the handbrake switch. It's hard to get at on the end of the lever & it catchs the carpet & gets fluffed up & sticks. Sometimes the wire comes off as well. Hope thats it as it's a simple cheap fix. ![]() |

Sounds like a low fluid, but its definitely not the lsd as there is no electrickery there, fully mechanical. |

As I understand it that exclamation mark comes on with something else - or comes with all of the other warning lights. Is anything else coming on at the same time - probably the brake fluid light as has been suggested. If it turns out that something else is coming on then I suppoise the big red exclamation does its job as you saw that but not the other one! If it is just the exclamation then sorry don't know! Note to self - read the op first!! Sorry that's not very helpful is it! What is the light that may come on? |

If it's brake fluid then a yellow warning light should come on. Unless the bulbs gone! The switch could be dicky in the lid of the cap?? |

Hi, Even if the warning bulb for the brake fluid has broken, a visual inspection of the resevoir should be able to confirm whether or not it needs filling. Ben ![]() |

Not if the switch in the lid is faulty! I had to replace mine. ![]() |

OK, now what - all fluids OK, hand brake OK - goes down properly and light goes off, would need to rise 1cm+ to activate switch again. The driver handbook gives no guide to any possible warning light between the ! and the main beam, which is where I had seen something momentarily on a few occasions. The car is in fine fettle so I haven't a clue now.........any more ideas please guys ? |

This is why the " ! " light should have come with an " £ " sign on it. |

I took it to Strasse and was told my PAS fluid was so sludgy that it wouldn't open the valves, so I drained it (a bit tricky as you have to loosen the whole thing and can't quite empty it), replaced and now its fine. So, fluid level looked OK but it was the fluid itself. Thanks your input folks. |
