Hi all, I wonder if anyone can help, I've changed the relay, the switch and I've taken the motor off and cleaned it as mentioned in clarks garage, so I'm out of ideas. Before I go out and get a new motor is there anything else I could try? When they started going wrong there was a delay in them going down sometimes a few hours but now never. |

I had this and it turned out to be the front cover on the N/S headlight was not on properly. It jammed the lights from going down. When I tightened up the screws round it they worked ok again. Try a quick check of the front headlight covers and see. Let us know how you get on. Lee. |

If the lights lift up then there is nothing wrong with the motor. The manuals are out in the garage & it is peeing down but....I suspect the issue is with the limit switches attached to the motor. Strip the motor off & give everything a good clean. |

Thanks for those replies, I've checked for obstructions and stripped off the motor again and cleaned it to within a inch of its life but still no joy. The wiring looks good and the fuses are ok, I'm stumped. I hate electrics ![]() |

Andy, as Jim says there are limit swithches inside the motor. You could check for voltage at the motor from the switch. The switch could be faulty and not sending the signal. I've tried to attach a drawing, but never done it before so not sure how it will turn out. Lee. |

Live with it? If the motors been swaped. Dose it make a noise? Like the motor is trying. There mayb something some were simply obstructin it. Have You been manualy putting them back down? You could change over the whole light assebaly, or swap 2 gt look? Do you use the car at night. Would be a real pain in the a!! |

This is what I found was wrong when my lights wouldn't retract. The bolt had worked loose and even though it looked like it was in place it was fouling the mechanism on the bodywork. Not really sure what it's supposed to do but screw it back up a bit. Worth a look before tearing the electrics out. Got Jamie at JMG to thank for that bit of info. |

Thanks for those and for the people who've pm me. Took another look today and disconnected the headlight assembly, its definately something electrical as the motor only goes one way. As I've swapped all the components and checked the fuses so Im pretty sure it must be a broken wire or dodgy connection somewhere. So I'll bite the bullet and pay out for an auto electrician at some point (or more precisely, when my wife will let me ![]() Its not been my week for all things electrical, managed to put my ipod through the wash ![]() |
