Hi, If, like me, you have accessed this site as a potential buyer or possible club member then I have a tale to tell. I bought my first 944 in January and toyed with joining a couple of clubs. I started looking at this forum and thought the folks were helpful and relaxed. I was also impressed with the technical help should something go wrong, based on the forums. So I paid up and joined. Well 4 weeks ago the car played up and was taken off the road with a water pump problem. 'Was' being the operative word, as yesterday a fellow club member came to my house and spent the best part of ten hours helping me. We had been talking before hand and I'd bought the parts (based on his recommendations) and some tools. By last night we'd replaced the waterpump, thermostat and the cam and timing belts. Jobs that I'd never done before. We had a few 'lessons' on the way (dont jack a car up with cups of tea in the boot (both) and make sure the flywheel lock has been engaged on the teeth before pulling on the crank pulley bolt (me). We also found that the pump was an original one, not bad for 86K. We also took a trip to Halfords for a battery and coolant and saved through a discount card the cost of my membership for the year. So, if you are in doubt about joining up I would say remove your doubt, come on board and learn about the car from those that know, save some money and make some new pals. Oh thanks Jim, top man! Matt |

No problem Matt, good to meet a fellow Porsche owner & help out. I'm sure my hands will eventually be flesh coloured instead of black sometime ![]() Matt's water pump was probably the most knackered I've seen for a long time, it felt like a cheap chinese ratchet spanner & made similar noises as well ![]() Amazed that the water pump unbolted with no grief though. |

Indeed. It was a long day but so worthwhile. I had today off, finished the putting back together and bleeding and took her for a gentle 20 miles. An immaculate performance with a hotter running engine. Bleeding was another new skill learnt! Thanks again to you all and especially Jim. As an aside, Jim and I learnt that two people working really helps to bounce ideas, read manuals whilst one works (incidentally Clarkes, Arnworxx and the official manual all played their complimentary parts), take photos, not forget things, make the tea and sarnies etc etc. So if anyone needs a second helper on a job I'm happy to help out. It aids my learning. I also have a decent car port and range of tools, so can offer that up as well if you are an on the road mechanic and need somewhere to work. You'd have to have most of the knowledge but I can provide somewhere for us to work. Usual rules apply it can only happen when the missus says so! Cheers, Matt |

A tribute to the club, the members and the members we attract. I say that after only being a member for a few months myself. Everyone I've met through Tipec have been great. Lee. |

My paddock is a very nice place for a camping holiday (but only if your names Jim and you are very good with a spanner) ![]() On a serious note you are lucky to have members nearby and such decent ones at that Regards Mas |
