Does anyone know if the head from the 150bhp S can be used on the '88 160bhp cars? The PET part nos. are slightly different but as I understand the increase in power was obtained by using the 944 pistons I'm wondering if the earlier ones can still be used on the later cars.

Yes. My new head is an old one. If that makes sense. So long as you are talking 8v heads. The 2.7 one is best but there hard to find & the valves are big money.

The 2.7 head wont fit on a 2.5 block though: itll only fit on a 2.7/3.0 block.

Thats interesting as I didn't try the 2.7 head. Cost of valves put me off. Tried the 16v S head & that doesn't fit either! I've seen the 2.7 head fitted on a 3 litre S2 as a cheap fix. It worked better than you'd expect. Loads of torque but less horses on the dyno.
