It is nearly the most desirable money pit 944 you can have next to an SE and cab!!! Was taken off the road last Friday when the MOT ran out. Have spoken with Brian Miller who has looked after it for the last 12 years and he says it is sound mechanically but bodywork needs a tidy! It is worth 3 times that in parts though JJ!!!!

Alasdair. You bought this heap? I don't get it. 2K for new sills. 2K to respray it. Thats 4K + the £750. Then it will need a water pump & belts & rollers. You could have a top notch 951 for that. If it's for sale on ebay for £750 there has to be a reason. Theres no such thing as a free ride. Sure it will need a lot more than just a tidy. Do people normally give perfectly good cars away for nothing??? Still I didn't post anything in this thread earlier or it would still be there   So I don't know what your all talking about. :hiding:

I think the secret here is Alasdairs line "It would break for 3 times that"

You have to remember JJ that not all of us on here are averse to the use a spanner or two. It would cost me £200 to put a pair of sills on a car and I have a very good friend who is a manager in a bodyshop local to me, I can get a very good spray job for £200 if I do the prep. I also have 4 cars I can source parts from here that all owe me no money at all. So all in all, it could be a very cheap car. If it needs a pump and belts, thats £400 but even mint cars needs pumps and belts!

could get one car from 2 even with the 2nd a n/a? Sounds like you could swap over the 250s with a n/a body. If you was capable of the work yourself, And sell the left overs, mayb recopue all or half the lay out cost. But that's if it's only the body at fault. ?

Not averse to spannering myself. I'm also a qualified welder. But I only have one day off a week & I don't have a garage to use. But if you cost your time then fixing this will not be cheap. But if your plan is to save it's life rather than just break it for profit then good luck to you. We must agree to differ on if it's worth it or not! My own car has just swallowed over 2K in parts for routine maintenance. Just parts. (Many from the states to save money.) But I won't need to spend that again for a few years. Thats how these cars get sold on ebay for peanuts. Only bargain was the gearbox as mine was dieing after 150K miles. Cheers Alan! (cococola)

This post proves that there is a gulf between being interested and being knowledgeable.

Well gents, picked the car up tonight and what a bargain it is. Drivers side sill has a bit of bubbling of the underseal on it but nothing major, solid underneath. Both front wings are a bit crusty round the edge of the wheel arch but nothing too bad. Passenger side sill is fine. A bit of bubbling round the back where the number plate lights are. There is some rusting along the top of the windscreen but mostly flaky paint. All the shutlines are good and panel gaps all even. Got a nice stamped book with it and also a nice wodge of invoices. It also just had 2 nice Toyo T1Rs put on the bak 3 weeks ago, still have the bobbles on them! Also just had a nice new Dansk back box, clutch master cylinder and brake pipes put on it within the last months. Wheels really need a refurb but are nice rare 7.5 and 9 inch D90s. Car drives fine apart from the gear linkage being very stiff and the brakes were a bit crunchy with the car sitting outside for a week. Soon cleaned up though. I may even just chuck it in for an MOT and see what it needs!
Alasdair
PS the clock and clock bulb even works as well!!!
PPS The seller said it was a comfort interior but it has nice sport seats in it, it also has nice big M030 brakes on the front as well, both were pleasant surprises!
