Post subject:  Camshaft Sensor/Wiring Plug Issue

Hi everyone,
firstly i would like to thank the guys that helped me a year ago ref my Dme Relay issue (my only other post)

I have another issue i'm hoping someone can help me with on my 924s, the car has got a fault with the engine cutting out when warm at junctions / at idle & struggling to restart, after speaking to the last 2 owners of the car the first owner confirmed that it had had a new Crankshaft Sensor for the same issue wich fixed this problem (i have the invoice from 3 years ago) up to when they sold the car,the next owner experinced this issue & had diagnosed that if you wiggle the Multi Plug Connector for the Crankshaft Sensor (near the bulkhead) the car will start & run again, i have found this does work & have cleaned the multi plug & made it a tighter connection but the car still intermittanltly plays up, has anyone else come across this fault, should i change the Crankshaft Senor again or make a new wiring connection at the multi plug?

The plugs do play up but not as bad as this. Is it cleaned properly, is the sensor installed correctly?

The Multi Plug has been cleaned twice by me & also by my mate who is a vw technician, i haven't had a look at the sensor itself, it was fitted by paragon porsche 3 years ago, i don't know if the previous owner did anything else to the car as he probably felt a bit awkward for not telling me about this problem when he sold the car (sold as seen)

IF the problem is the wiring loom harness from the crank sensor & reference sensor I would replace this section of the harness complete. With new plugs. They are available new in fireproof over braid from Lindsey racing for less than you'd think. Saves a lot of messing about & expense when they start to play up. One of mine disintegrated completely.

Your welcome :D At least you know if the fault returns it's not the wiring harness! Lindsey Racing sell a large range of parts many of which are good for the 944 though designed for the 951. Quality is pretty good & so far everything I've got from them has fitted & worked. Shame about the exchange rate as the parts aren't the bargain they used to be.

I was impressed how quickly Lindsey Racing got me the part, i sent them the order on the weekend of the Volcano Ash issue & UPS got the part to me 4 days later, quicker than many parts i have orderded in the Uk,
I'm quietly confident the car is fixed, done 15 Miles since changing the loom, i hope to have done more if the Weather wasn't so rubbish, this is my weekend fun car (not so much fun when cutting out)
