Post subject: | Brake Lines |
Hi All. I just did my front brake pads and disks at the weekend. I noticed there is a small amount of brake fluid weeping where the brake line meets the hose. Looks like it is coming from the thread near the rusty nut at the top. How do you think this might be fixed? Would I perhaps get away with tightening the bolt a little or do I need to replace the brake line? I have given it a clean and will have the wheel off next weekend to check it again while I put new brake sensors on. Cheers Mike |

Will need a new pipe & possibly new flexi hose. I'd be having a good look at the other side as well to check if that is OK. |

Bummer. Other side looked ok. I will give all four a look at the weekend. After cleaning, the brake pipes between looked ok. Look like steel braded lines that have been added at some point. Any idea what having the one brake pipe replaced might cost? That is the front right. Mike |

Not sure about on a later car but on my early one the front right was one of the easiest to replace. It might be worth taking the wheel arch liner off and taking a look at the rest of the pipe as I believe they can rust away behind that (not overly sure as my car doesn't have them). |

I agree with Rob. Take the arch liner out and inspect the hard line for corrosion 'cos that may well be goosed. I've got my 968 in at the garage right now for the offside front flexi replacing (failed MOT). Don't take chances, it's simply not worth it. |

Recommend HEL hoses - cheaper than Goodridge and rubber hoses and available in about 11 colours. Good service and quick delivery. http://helperformance.com/store/ Not associated with them in any way, just impressed! |
