Post subject:  The sunroof and brakes on a 944

Afternoon all. Finally the sun is showing it's face. Just hope it stickes around for the next 6 months....

Any way, two questions to put out there is any one can advise?

I finally got some info on the 944 S2 with Brembo brakes so I could sort out my squeeeeeeeling.
Did the fronts no problem. Popped off the butteryfly clip and the pads pulled right out. Easy.
Oddly though I simply could not get the rear pads out. Still with the same butterfly clip yet once released I could not get the pads to budge.
I depressed the pistons so the pads moved from side to side but they just would not pull out. It looked like the pistons where attached to the pads so even though I depressed the pistons the pads just would not come out.
Any ideas or tips?

And I am quite asahmed of this one but I am stummped.

I have an electric sun roof on my car. It titls and is meant to come out completely.
Well it tilts just fine but I'm bu**ered if I can work out how to remove it.
Does any one know how it works?
And yes I have released the front clips from inside the cabin but just like the brakes, I can't get it to come out.

If you can help that would be cool? The sun is meant to be out this week end and I'm off to tell some one that their new baby has their eyes. It would be cool to p**s the lady off by removing the roof.

Cheers all and be cool.

To remove the sunroof -

Turn ignition switch to position 1 (radio) and press rear half of sunroof rocker switch until the actuators release the roof (If you watch you will see them retract into the body). Undo the front hinges and lift out the roof.

To re-fit -

Undo the hinges, slot the roof over the draught deflector, lower roof into position and then get inside and close the hinges. Turn ignition to position 1 and press the front half of the rocker switch until it locks in place.

Go-on, off you go before it rains again

Brakes - I'm pretty sure you have to unbolt and pivot the calipers.

I had the same thing on my front pads. With the pistons pushed in I could move the pad around inside the calliper but could not pull it out. I tapped it out with a hammer a little bit at time on each end of the pad. I also had to tap the pads back in again. I happened to have the calliper off when tapping them out so it was easy to get at. Might have a little bit of plate lift perhaps. Plate lift is kind of covered in this thread with a link to a refurb article.

If that’s what it is on mine I am not worried to much at the minute as the brake did get in and out fairly easily and they could move around no problem in the calliper.
