Does anyone know the part number for the front window wiper relay on the S2? I don't see it in the parts catalogue.

My window wipers are a total pain at the moment with only fast and very fast speed working. The wipers do not rest back in the start position either so I have to time it right to get it back, which I'm getting good at. To be honest I think it may be the motor but figure trying the relay first would be the easiest job especially if I can pick one up cheap from eBay. I have also been wondering if it may be possible to use an Audi or VW relay instead.

Cheers,
Mike

Mike, my 911 did the same, turned out it was the contacts within the switch. Never had the problem on a 944 but may be the same. The biggest problem seems to be with the definition of positions going a bi awry with 944 switches, have seen a few that have no positive stops on them, they flop about between positions.

Alasdair yes it may be the switch. The reason I think it might be the motor is because it happened gradually. First it started juddering then it eventually it stopped working. All coinciding with using Rainx which I had thought perhaps had put extra pressure on the motor. Could all be coincidence though. I had a go at getting the motor wiper mechanism out but it is in a fairly tight spot, so thought I would try the relay first before having another go.
To fix the switch did you have to replace the wiper/indicator stalk or was it repairable?

I got another stalk off Ebay cheaply for the 911, the the 944, you need to change the lot as the indicator stalk and wiper stalk are all part of the one unit unfortunately. The backplates are all rivetted on as well! I should have a spare wiper relay here, can chuck it in the post later today if you want,

My 83 944 was doing just that and it was the relay that was dead. Tried cleaning all contacts within the motor and stalks first and no joy but a new relay fixed it.

Alasdair
That would be great if you have a spare you could send me. There's nothing on eBay at the moment. I will send you a pm. Fingers crossed it's an easy fix.

Cheers,
Mike
