I have new front brake pads to put on. Do I need to use anti vibration dampers? The new pads came with nothing and the old ones have a metal backing plate which does not look suitable for my new pads. I have seen ones like these http://www.design911.com/Porsche/944-1982-91/944S2-3-0L-1989-91/Brake-Pad-Anti-vibration-shims/pt66_66_57_209_-cma81-cmo123-ct307/ I can't really visualise how these would fit. Where do the little metal spikes go? |

The spikes sit in the pistons and the plate is stuck to the pad. Some say you must use them others not, I didnt use them on my latest pad change but have in the past. Rich |

Thanks Rich, I will probably try without the dampers first and see how it goes. I saw on wheeler dealers the guy stuck copper grease on the back of the pads on the 928 they did. To stop squeeling I think. Any reason I souldn't try this? Cheers Mike |

I don't use them but do get pad chatter at certain points in the heating & cooling cycle. I might try them when I put the refurbed callipers on though. |

I think the 'anti vibration pads' are supposed to help the brake pad come away from the disc with movement the calliper pistons as they retract slightly back into the calliper body... |
