Not sure is this is worth the post but thought i would give it a go anyway, we usually post subjects when something is broken or if were on the scrounge for knowledge, but don't usually post when things are going well, so i thought i would give it a go, i apologise in advance if i have missed the point here. Anyway i was sorting my documents for the car this weekend while tidying and realised i have just done 10k miles from when i bought my car about a year and a half ago, and you know what? what a great year and a half its been, i only paid a few hundred pounds for on ebay for my damp neglected car which had been forgotten in a garage for what we believe to be 10 years +/-a few, and yet with a few regular oil changes, general servicing and some gentle driving its back to its former health. Also im relatively young and although pretty practical knew nothing about the mechanics of cars, and so far this has been pretty simple to work on myself, and i love it, despite the odd cursing' blow torch and pry bar moments, insurance is also a shocking £1800 less than my last car. It flew through its MOT and with a couple ebay finds (and my custom stainless exhaust which has made the world of difference) is looking pretty spotless now, i've had modern cars but nothing gives you that feel good feeling like a classic car. Anyway that's my rant over, anyone else had good experiences so far this year? |

That is a fantastic post. Lovely to read that you have enjoyed your purchase. But insurance £1800pa cheaper? How much do you pay now, and wtf did you insure before for that price?? Continue to enjoy the ride, and here's to the next 10k |

i had a 4th gen honda prelude (amazing car but dead boring to drive) before which was just over £2200 to insure, now i only pay just under £400 on a classic policy ![]() |

Nice motor, but I may be biased when I say, you're better off with the Porsche ![]() |

It's the insurance that keeps me in mine. Had a 106 Rallye that was mental to insure. It had to go. Dealership took months to shift it. The Porsche pulls hard where the 106 gave up & costs peanuts to insure. But it does use a bit more fuel........ ![]() |
