Hello there,

I bought my first 944 last month and have just taken the plunge to join the club. So hello!

My car is a 2.5 1986 none turbo model with 80K on the clock in a deep silver grey. It has only done 3000 miles since 1994 as the owner bought a 911 and kept the 944 for golf as his clubs fitted in the boot! He kept them both in his heated garage and only sold the 944 after he retired and moved.

So, the plus point is it is in great condition and completely original with an excellent Panasonic tape player! However, the negative point comes from the lack of use, highlighted by my own enthusiastic use, and that has thrown up a few issues.

So I will be asking a few questions and would ask for you to please bear with me as some of the questions may appear basic to you experts. However, I do like to try my hand at mechanics and have for the last 5 years 'played' with a Citroen DS, often getting great advice from their web forum.

So hope to see and hear ftom you soon.

Matt

Hi & welcome  If you have played with Citroen DS then you have more than enough spanner qualifications for a 944. I worked on one of those & was staggered by how inaccessible everything was!

Hello Jim,

I wouldn't say I was a spannering expert and only 'played', but you aren't wrong about some of the accessibility. However, its a joy to now only have two fluid systems to worry about. Until you've had LHM 'issues' you dont appreciate how complex the D can be !. My garage still has the scars of the leaks!

Hi Matt and welcome.

Great that you're keen to tackle jobs on your 44. You'll get a much deeper understanding of the car, be in a better position to diagnose future problems, save a load of cash and get a lot of satisfaction (when it goes OK!).

Cheers,

Adrian

Hi Matt and welcome to the forum and to TIPEC.

Pop some piccies up when you get the chance.
You will get plenty of free advice here too, many are only too willing to help so ask away.

Enjoy the ride.

Hello and welcome to TIPEC :hello1:

The information I have gained from this forum has been massively helpful. The knowledge on this site is worth the application fee itself!

Hello and welcome!

I can certainly vouch for the satisfaction of doing your own spannering! Especially when you add up the money you save :)

It may not be everyones thing but the fact you can fit two sets of golf clubs with trolleys is a great plus point!
