Post subject:  944 S2 mixture settings?

Hi,

My mates S2 failed MOT on emissions & garage couldn't find where to adjust mixture, can anyone help with the location of this??
Also my 968 due MOT soon so just incase is the mixture setting in the same place as the S2?

Thanks

Steve

I think there is screw on the air flow meter but check clarks.

Just found it on 24-106 of the w'shp manual. Sorry it wont copy but it is on the AFM.

It only makes a small difference. Was it fully warm when tested? Did you give it a good blast first? Any issues with the engine like excessive oil consumption? MOT testers do more harm than good when they start fiddling. Probably break the screw

The Pug 205 which shares the same AFM someimes gets tweaked come MOT time on some cars.

Before it is touched, change the air and fuel filter first, especially if they have not been changed for over a year or 2, maybe shove some injector cleaner into the tank (a short term cure to 'nurse' it through the MOT).

IMO, oil consumption will show up in other manners more than on an ETA. A Jag XJ40 XJR I borrowed years ago never failed emmisions and that thing smoked like a trooper if taken beyond 4k (read quite a bit of blue smoke). The emmisions were fine on that, but the smoke test it 'just' got through. Same for my mate's carb'd 205 1.4 (his bores were shot).

I think if it's not the above, the AFM may get away with getting adjusted but it will more than likely need cleaning, refurbishing as more of them are now requiring.

AFM adjustment is only a trim adjustment, generally MOT fail is AFM needs cleaning & adjusting or Throttle Position Switch (TPS) setting or knackered.
