 Post subject: Front wishbones

Does anyone know if the wishbone off a 1990 S2 will fit an 88 Lux ??

Post 87 oval dash should be the same I believe. There alloy & wider track than the early ones which were stock VW golf.

There are two widths of alloy wishbone, post 85 & post 87.

IIRC, cars before 1987 (assuming they are on the short/220 Turbo Alloy arms) can take the steel arms with removable balljoints from a Golf Mk1 like the early 924 and Series 1 944.

Thanks for the replies which confirmed what i was thinking but just wanted to be sure before i stripped the car down.Regarding the steel arms last time i changed a bottom ball joint it had mk2 Golf on the packet which i presume would be the same as a mk1 golf ??.

Yes early cars use a VW K70 (later used on Golf) wishbone and ball joint. The 924 used K70 brakes too.

The early ones are available from Unipart for peanuts! Shame they don't do the later ones. Well done for spotting my deliberate mistake Jim :lol:
