Post subject:  Looking for 944s parts

Hello All,

I own a 944s which has been in the wars a little recently, and as such I am looking for some suppliers for replacement parts.

The car had a cam belt failure about 2 minutes after a strange knocking noise prompted me to drive the car straight to the garage :( I am looking for a set of exhaust valves, a fuel rail and also a hall sender as the latter items either broke or fell apart when removing the head from the car.

I had everything else checked by someone who thinks it will run fine again, the valves I would like to find cheaper ;) but any help or contacts would be appreciated.

Kind Regards,

DA-EVO

Is it a 8 or 16 valve motor?

deffo find another head it'll be cheaper! You've not only got valve costs which are considerable, you could also have valve guide & seat damage. I would try G & S Valves at http://www.gsvalves.co.uk/Company.htm used them in the past & they have been very good.
Don't forget TiPEC members get 10% or better at OPCs. John Hoskin at OPC Tonbridge will also post bits if needed.

Thanks again, I will get it all checked out.

I am assured that the valve seats / guides are all fine and that the engine suffered minimal damage (quite lucky i was sat stationary when it happened) However, I don't know what the going rate for a 16v head is so I will have a look at that too. I am basically trying to weigh up the costs of the best option and if that is a new head, that will be the way forward.

Cheers

Richy_s: I have sent you a PM if you are interested in selling it, thanks for letting me know.

J.J.: I would love to see it running again, albeit I will probably sell it after a short while as I have one too many cars for the moment, and if it were not for the failure it would have been sold anyway, I was looking for a 944 Turbo.

But yes, very fond of the 944 :)

Theres a complete S head on ebay. (16v) http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/Porsche-944S-2-5-Litre-16V-Cylinder-Head_W0QQitemZ230243581777QQihZ013QQcategoryZ10408QQssPageNameZWDVWQQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem

Hmm, them eBay searches I set up clearly didn't do the trick then!

Thanks a lot for that, would have missed it. :)

That'll be a bargain for a tenner (if the valves are in good condition). At least the valves themselves are pretty cheap on an S - £27 each from Bert Gear. The 2.7 valves are £100 each

Hi Paul,

I meant that the usual places I tried were about £24.00 ea, then they have gone up to £34.00 I will check out Bert Gear as no doubt a timing chain will be useful.

Thanks

Dylan

£100 ea? OUCH!
