All I had to do was replace the front brake hoses for the MoT. I've stripped the thread in the caliper. Is my only option a new/used caliper? What sort of money are they and can I get it off myself? Those bolts seem really rather tight. This is not a good day. |

Looks like about £80 for a recon one; http://www.type911shop.co.uk/shop/artic ... %3D2310%26 Can you not re-tap the caliper? |

I think he could Helicoil it without issues. |

Helicoil? Would that work OK? I'd still have to get the caliper off though, right? If I can't even get a hose on straight, drilling & tapping it is not an option! The other side is OK, by the way. I'm not a complete mechanical numpty! I've never had anything helicoiled - is it expensive for a machine shop to do it? Thanks for your advice. This sounds like a good idea... |

Have a look at this for £33. http://uk.rs-online.com/web/search/searchBrowseAction.html?method=getProduct&R=0528621 Either way, it needs to come off now. A machine shop or mobile machanic should not charge much more than this to do it for you. Let us know how you get on? Lee. |

Assuming this is the hose feed in I wouldn't helicoil it unless I knew 110% what I was doing, especially as recons are so cheap & available. |

I'm inclined to agree with you. GSF are just down the road: Part No: 655PO0070 (why is the LH a tenner more than the RH?!) Am I right that I 'just' have to undo the two bolts to remove it? They're not locked by anything? |

I have a 1983 Lux and there is nothing locking the bolts in on mine. Just really stiff, put plenty of WD 40 on before you try. Take the pads out first but. Lee. |
