Post subject:  Foggy fog lights?
Hi All,

I've noticed for the last couple of months that the integrated side light/fog light/high beam light seem to be quite misted up on my '89 '44 S2. My side light blew this week so it gave me an opportunity to take a good look at the light assembly. I was quite surprised to find that there was no sort of rubber gasket at all. Is this right? It certainly will explain the moisture inside the lense but surely there must be a seal of some sort?

If any of you out there have a part number for the seal I would be grateful. Also, I could do with part numbers and,or size of the 4 screws that hold the assembly in. They look like they've seen better days. I think I'd also do the other side as well as that is also showing signs of fogging.

Gasket 951 631 167 00

Only lists for a left and a right side covers cover with 2 screws

951 631 931 00 left cover corner part with screw

951 631 932 00 right cover corner part with screw

im currnetly not running an undertray/batwing as im waiting on my turbo chin spoiler, iv just changed 2 clear idecoutor lenses and they came with large fome like bands, yet they are looking foggy and steamed up, so i put it down 2 the missing undertray and recent down pours.

Erm, I can't think the undertray missing would cause the fogging of the lights. I must be missing the gaskets by the sound of it.

Do u have the under tray? The one under the front bumper? Just a thought cas I got gastiks on my indactours and there still fogging? Think the air flow and mostuor is get up behind the uints r sealed and in closed but it's differnt temptures inside 2 out? I got a batwing undertray ( with all the mounting points intacted)if ur looking 4 one, won't be using cas Im getting a chin spoiler,

Thanks for the kind offer but I'm like you at the moment. I've got the undertray on but got a new front splitter to spray and fit. Just waiting for the better weather. That said, it might have been worth fitting the front splitter to act as a snow plough. :lol:

Didn't know you could get new seals for them! My driving lights have fogged up. Will have a look at that cheers for the post Ben! Was going to get new lights from the breaker.

Thanks for the part number - it is correct. I've looked on PET as I also need 2 X mounting screws that hold the front assembly into the back assembly + one of the adjusting screws is missing - probably explains when you have the high beam on, its pointing in the sky looking for UFO's. These are not listed in PET so it would be a replacement light assembly - like chuff given that they cost around £200. So I'll source the screws locally. Guess I might as well refurb the other side while I'm at it.

Just called OPC Leeds - Gasket seal costs £3.05 + VAT. Downside - it's got to come from Germany. I'm in no rush though - be a nice job to do when the weather improves.

Hi,

Thanks for the link but I still think it's a bit excessive replacing the entire assembly because a couple of screws are missing. I'm sure these can be sourced locally.
