I'm about to replace my windscreen as its showing age related marks that won't polish out & I want nice clean glass for my trip to south coast of france in 2 weeks. I'm with hagerty which means pay and claim back.

I just called around for a few quotes, and auto windscreens quoted £1050 all in!! Called a local company, who quoted £430 all in & booked them for next saturday. They confirmed that it will have green sun strip, and aerial.

Question is, should I be wary of any issues owners have encountered and besides standing over the fitter to make sure he does not damage my new paintwork, should I be ensuring he takes note of any problem areas....

Just thinking with age of car, its not likely the fitter would of done many 944's in his time.

Any feedback greatly appreciated :D

Take the A pillar trims out before he gets anywhere near the car. They're really easy to cut when removing the glass. They're also easy to "glue in" when he's fitting the new screen. They're harder to get hold of than rocking horse poo if you need replacements and expensive when you can find them. Three screws each side is all that's required for safe removal.

Other than that, changing a screen on a 944 is no different to any other modern car.

Thanks Glenn... Interestingly the passenger side pillar has a slit in it, which means someone has been there before!!! Will definitely take your advice & thanks,

Mine was replaced by Hagerty and I got the windscreen from Porsche (approx £430 in 2013 with Top Tint as the plain screen wasn't in the UK)

Screen was fitted by Autoglass and I paid £75 excess I think. The lad fitting it had done lots of 944's over the years and did a superb job :D

I also know a friend who had his replaced by his local OPC with no issues
