I have seen a few posts re people buying these water pumps from the states via E-Bay. The ad says OEM and as far as I know this means that the company supplied Porsche with the pumps does it not ? I know Lasso and Beks have made water pumps for 944's but I cant find any info to suggest that this company ever have, does anyone know different. According to the seller the pumps are made by " Hamburg Technic in Germany ". Googling them leads to a very basic website for a German engineering form in my opinion. I Just thought I'd highlight it, I'll pay a bit extra and stick with Lasso pump I think. Regards Mas |

Quality of the pumps is fine in my humble opinion Mas. Why pay £220 for a pattern waterpump? OE water pumps don't exist, they are made by Beks. I would rather pay £100 for one instead. Am fitting one into my S2 very soon so will see how it goes. I am sure it will be fine, at the ned of the day, it is a mechanical seal and 2 bearings! |

Whoops. Might be worth a bid! http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/Porsche-944-Water-Pump-for-944-944S-924S-New-in-Box_W0QQitemZ230438433851QQcmdZViewItemQQptZUK_CarsParts_Vehicles_CarParts_SM?hash=item35a733743b |

" Hamburg Technic in Germany ". This explains everything. This is an Asian outfit located in the USA, they make alot of copy parts, some good, some very bad. One prime example is the 911 Turbo tie rod kits, they are crap, the ruber boots fail very quickly and then the ball joint follows. You pays your money and you takes your choice......................as mentioned, its quite a big job to change a pump, you may save £100 now, but spend lots more in the near future " Hamburg Technic in Germany ". are not OEM, end off, the parts have never been in Europe let alone Germany ![]() |

Design911 have 944S2 water pumps for £258 +vat and you get club discount I think this one fits early 944 924S and 968, if it was me I would not buy one I did not know the provenance of, bit different for stuff not going inside the engine in such a critical duty. http://www.design911.co.uk/fu/pt878_882 ... ant-Pumps/ |

I bought one from the states last year, so far so good! I became a bit of a pump expert - the type from the states are the type that fit my 86 with a slightly later engine and do not have a turbo connect point. They are the sort that , if you engine does not have it, need the timing case modifying and the spacer bar to go between the belts. Someone told me the very early type are not made any more but who knows... |

Yes 911perv ! You obviously understand that they are making a false claim if they claim their pumps are OE unless they have been an original equipment supplier of pumps to Porsche. I was trying to be subtle and not breech any forum rules etc and at the same time be helpfull. It seems I post something accurate and usefull lately and someone who ' knows better ' feels the need to contradict it straight away. And yes as mentioned above yes there are genuine industries based in China but it is also the well known centre of the 'copy' world ! I cant be bothered with arguing on the web, so I'll just stick to using forum to be sociable and let certain others dazzle me with their brilliance ![]() Cheers Mas |
