Hi!
Ive just (finally) got my first Porsche and think I have bagged a bargain, its a 86 944 Lux. I do have a couple of issues with it that I want to get sorted and thought Id seek your advice.

1. Heater doesnt blow hot, only cold
2. Windscreen washer doesnt work
3. Handbrake is very stiff, to the point the Mrs cant operate it (not a bad thing  )

Cheers for any help

Firstly Hi & welcome

1. Heater doesnt blow hot, only cold
Makes a change from loads stuck on hot! Possibly low coolant level, stuck water valve or cable off of controls.
2. Windscreen washer doesnt work
Is the pump running? If it isn't then almost certainly a knackered pump motor or dodgy connection to it.
3. Handbrake is very stiff, to the point the Mrs cant operate it (not a bad thing  )
Knackered handbrake cable? Fiddly job to do but new cables not expensive 40 & 55 for the two from memory.

Hi and welcome from another 944 owner.

Mine has the same heater problem (stuck on cold). Hope to get it sorted at the weekend and will let you know if I find anything useful

Hi.

My 944 was also blowing cold when I got it and after a heck of a lot of fiddling and checking solenoids, vacuum pipes, crawling under the dash etc etc it turned out to be a faulty dash control unit. Perhaps yours is the same. I reckon if your demist function doesn't work (the button to the left of the speed dial on the control unit) - which when pressed maxxes the blower speed, turns on heat and directs air to the windscreen - then I'd say start with replacing the control unit. There's a new one for sale on here for £100 - if you're patient enough you may find one on ebay for less if, and when, they pop up for less than £100 that is....

:D
