I am going to be renewing alot of my 944's coolant system (radiator - new from ECP, coolant hoses, heater hose, and heater matrix). However I am debating on which coolant to refill the system with. I am currently thinking of going with the VW red antifreeze as similar products have served me well in previous cars (bar classics where OAT antifreezes attack the copper/solder). But I am worried about any traces of blue that may be left in the system which could react with OAT (as I've seen happen before). So the question is would you stick with normal blue antifreeze or try chance your arm on the 'superior' OAT stuff and flush the system out thoroughly (any tips on this?) (if it helps, my Mondeo did 400k on Ford's 10 year antifreeze without a single cooling component (including waterpump) requiring to be replaced). If it helps, the Porsche's coolant is a clear blue at the moment. I'm guessing EMC may have flushed the engine out for me or it was a good engine from the off (it did indeed have very pricey Nology Silver plugs (about £12 a plug!) and an OEM Porsche filter). |

Mine uses the long life red stuff - as recommended by the indie in Bristol I use. I picked up a bottle from Halfords to dilute as and when. Seems fine on day to day traffic. If that helps. |

Mine is using the Halfords Longlife stuff & seems fine, well based on; it hasn't fallen apart, it's been in there for 2 & 1/2 years & more importantly it protected the car in the -11 Deg C weather we had whilst I was in the US. |
