Happy New Year!

Has anybody successfully used a pair of portable metal ramps - you know the kind from Halfords, MachineMart etc?

http://www.halfords.com/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/product_storeId_10001_catalogId_10151_productId_175876_langId_-1_categoryId_165727

If so which ones have had a low enough profile to allow the 944 to be driven up 'em going forwards?

I'd like to purchase some this morning if possible as there's limited space in my garage to use the trolley jack and I aint going to work on the drive in this cold

thanks!

Jack & stands a far better idea. Once jacked & on the stands you can take out the jack & shut the door! A 944 will be easily damaged with these ramps. They aren't strong enough either for cars over a ton. If you must get em made out of wood by a joiner. Wider & with a shallower ramp. Planked so you can drive up them smoothly. Used to have a great pair made by a friend. Spend your money on a fan heater instead!

Standard Halfords style are too steep - the bodywork fouls the ramps.
There are lots of more specialist ramps with very shallow access angles and then there are various lifts etc.
I've looked at lots as I tend to find that getting the car safely off the ground takes a surprising amount of time and I'm not very happy even on axle stands.
A quick google shows up lots of alternatives - the Lotus 7 club organised a deal with a company in Rugby I think but it was considerably more than a pair of Halfords ramps!
