So I stayed in & cleaned & polished my replacement cam box! Trashed the kitchen a bit too. Hard work polishing ali' but the logo looks good shiny. Thought about doing the rest but don't think my fingers are up to that. Have to start the new year right! Just got to bang the water pump & head on with it now. Listened to The New year concert in Vienna whilst polishing helps. :D

That looks as good as new, polishing whilst enjoying the arts. Northerners can be cultured, get the kitchen tidied quick before you are lamped with the rolling pin. :D

Going to be doing a bit of work now myself and put the alloys on Haley's Bug I bought in the summer.

Very nice! What products did you use? I was thinking of having a stab at this myself.

Cleaned & degreased with wire wool. Polished the letters starting with 100 grade wet & dry. Then 200, 400, 600, Finished with ali polish from Gliptone. Very good stuff. It will mark eventually but will soon polish up again with the same stuff.

You might want to hold off on that idea, Sean. I did this to the front wheel of the VR6 the other night - typically, the wheel is a BBS RXII and rarer than rocking horse poo. I suspect I will have an interesting conversation with the local highways department next week

Cam cover very pretty. I've done them in the past. Spray a colour then wet & dry the letters back to shiny silver. I normally lacquer them after to keep the gloss.

Unlucky mate.

They generally cough up if you have pictures of the offending hole. Some of the lanes around here are like driving a slalom course off ski Sunday, they will be round every other week dropping some tar in them and they'll keep doing that until spring.

Calderdales roads are all like that. Council had no money to repair them. This is the future. Maybe it's a better option than speed cameras. Shure does slow you down! Had to drive a furniture van across Russia a couple of years ago. So many potholes you had to drive through them. Think I averaged 10 mph. Should have taken a picture of it. Roads looked like they'd been mortared! The services were fantastic though. Snowing like hell here. No way I'm working outside in this.

That ain't a pothole - its a crater! Makes the crater in Arizona look tiny!!

Hope you manage to get the council to cough up. They're bad at not paying out for these types of claims.

All the best,

Ben :bounce:
