Hi - I changed wheels on my S2. They were CUP3 reps 17x9 (ET47) and 17x7.5 (ET52), i never had any tramlining issues - i just changed because i got some genuine CUP1's cheap. So put the CUP1 on 17x9 (ET50ish) and 17x7.5 (ET65) they were off a 968 and they were factory supplied. Now i have awful tramlining and it sounds like something is rubbing/squeaking when on full lock. Any ideas - do i need to change the tyres or get it re-aligned which has only just been done. I could be wrong but I think they are the correct offsets for an M030 car. Mine are 7in wide ET65 on the front and 9in wide ET60 on the back. You might have to put a 10mm spacer on the front to correct the offset. |

I would highly suspect that the front tyres are pretty worn (or maybe unevenly worn) as the factory 968 wheels will have the correct offset for your car. At the front they do sit in 13mm more than your old replica wheels so you could try some spacers to see if this helps but I think new tyres will be in order. |

I had terrible tramlining with my cup 1s and I replaced the tyres that were at 2/3mm tread previously.With the new set of tyres the car was totally different and no more tramlining. |

I will put my other tyres on andget the wheels balanced, although i'm wishing i had a set of winter tyres for my car - another 3"s of snow today in Brussels. I'm off to the DIY store tomorrow to get a few bags of sand to put in the boot and ive seen something called 'snow socks' that you put over the tyres to give you traction. Its kind of a temporary, emergency snow chain. Out of interest, if i bought some D90's and put winter tyres on do i need to get the geometry done every time i change the wheels between 16" and 17"? |

The 968 castor mounts are reputed to help, Hartech sell them at reasonable prices though not OEM, would not have thought that Geo changes would be required though i may be wrong ? |

Recently bought a couple of those 968 castor mounts from Porsch-apart for £92 delivered from ebay. http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll? ... 0290070962 It gives a porsche part no but don't know if they are OEM. I thought that was a quite reasonable price as Porsche Chester quoted me £86 +VAT each! |

Can anyone advise the best size spacers to use front and rear? (& make) My car is lowered so would this be an issue and will it need its geometry re-done? Thanks Graham |

I just got new conti n2's on the front of mine. Its tramlines quite a bit on certain roads, not sure if it did it before as I hadn't driven it a great deal. I'm going to get the alignment checked as the people who fitted the tyres adjusted the toe in and now the wheel isn't straight! Ive got racers edge camber plated on mine, 17" turbo twist alloys 205F 255R. |

It shouldnt be sensitive to offset at the rear (and if it is spacers cant help, as they bring out and you would need to go in...), but the front could do with 6mm or 7mm parts. 52.3mm is the correct offset for 7" rims and 65mm is the correct offset for 8" wide rims. |

Hi, i wouldn't have thought you need to check the geo settings every time you change your wheels, unless (and i'm assuming you don't) you keep hitting kurbs quite hard? The rubbing could possibly be down to worn bushes, unless they are known to be good/ replaced recently or worn/tired dampers (or shocks if you will). the tramlining could be down to the road itself or the tyres as suggested earlier. I would also suggest front tracking possibly out but you have already had that checked ( i assume to near factory settings?). Hope this may be of a littl help, Matt. |
