My 951 came with static seat belts in the back. What i mean is that they are not the self rewinding type. They are 3 point.

With the car getting less and less use over the winter, i thought that i would like to ferry my kids around in it over the winter, but i dont feel safe with the kids secured in with only this static style belt.

Can this system be replaced with a reel type system?

I hope that you understand what it is that im going on about...........

Hi Rav, you need to check to see if the mount points are there for the 3 point belts. They should be there just in front of the boot light. I have probably got a set of belts and clips here. Will send you a pic if you want to show where the points are tomrrow,
Alasdair

To the best of my recollection, three point inertia belts werent an option in 1986. Later cars which have them will have an extra bracket on the body, and a relocated load area lamp. You can add them, but it isnt straight forward if your car doesnt already have the mountings.

Most (if not all) 1986 Turbos came with two point inertia belts.

Today i learn t a new word - Inertia.

If anyone has got some pictures of the mounting points i need to look for in my car - i would appreciate it.

Alasdair - depending on the mounting points needed - your seat belts are sold to me !!

Rav, why do you assume that 3 point statics are less safe than inertial? They are not, all harnesses are static (excluding strange aircraft ones). Inertial is purel a convienience thing & nothing else. If your belts are old or knackered then by all means replace & someone like SBS in Middlesex can replace them for you.
Personally if I had static 3 points I wouldn't bother replacing them.

Good point Jim.

Maybe i need to adjust them to fit on the kids properly and then leave them as it?

I will inspect over the weekend.
