Just driven the first 100 miles after getting the cambelt & water pump replaced on my newly bought 944 lux. Oh my god, what a load of fun! How much fun is it to drive these cars?!! I am so impressed. Worth every penny and moment of frustration!

This car is going to stay with me for a while, I think...

D

After loads of pain & far too much money. Can't part with mine. :D I could have bought another car for the price of all the parts to fit the new water pump. But it would be boring.
Just don't forget to take it steady until you've had the belt retentioned. 500ish miles I think. Or it could jump a tooth.

Around 200 I was told by the specialist, but I took it up to 500 before I gave it any kind of beans.

I spent more repairing this one than I have spent buying any of my cars! In fact just the parts cost more than any car I've bought! Isn't there a saying, "The quality is remembered long after the cost is forgotten" Or something like that. I've put the receipt in the folder and forgotten about it.

But.. I have to say it was worth it - They are great fun to drive. You could have all told me earlier. Just popped round, or left a note... :P

Mechanic advised about 1000 miles or no longer than six months before retightening. It has a self tensioner, so I guess this helps? Maybe I should just give it half beans instead.

It's a semi automatic tensioner. It means that it self adjusts when you are fitting the belt but then you lock the tensioner off once the correct tensioner has been obtained.

You'll be OK I've heard numbers from 250-2000miles!
