Post subject:  oil in the air intake?

Hi guys,

was tinkering around the engine bay of the '44 today and noticed there was oil lay in the bottom of the J-boot from the MAF and the Throttle sensor. It looked to be coming in from the pipe entering the J-boot from around where you top the oil for the engine (not sure).

What do ya reckon this is?

I mentioned it to a fella from work and he told me about oil catch tanks and how they catch "oil mist" or something and suggested fitting one will stop the oil getting to my intake.

Thought I'd pick the brains of you other 944 owners, as you know a dam site more about it than me!

It will be oil mist from the engine breather. Not too much to worry about. If you run the engine with the pipe off and the port to the inlet plugged, you will see the vapours coming out. As long as it is not breathing too heavily, nothing to worry about!
