Lo all, my car received a thumbs up and a clean bill of health recently but two minor jobs are apparent, both in the same spot. One was that there is minor weeping from the fuel line at the front end of the car and one was corrosion on the brake pipe next to it.

Having seen the price of a replacement fuel line 320 pounds inc VAT ( plus fitting of course) , i'm thinking that is very expensive indeed. The indy chap said you will hear people say join it etc blah blah but that its not a good idea to join a fuel line under a car and I can totally understand that , it makes sense.

Question is are there any companies that would do a quality replacement at a slightly more reasonable cost ?. There seems plenty of room to undercut such a price for what is basically a long steel pipe , albeit in four pieces :?

Regards Mas

This was all talked about earlier in the year and it seemed Pirtek may have been a good bet for replacement.
This is the thread to read

Mas - I understand the concern about the fuel line under the car, but given the right fittings and correct pipes, it should be no problem.

I know that ProMax and other indies can carry out these repairs by cutting the offending section out and using correct high pressure connectors and correctly spec'd lines, repair for a fraction of the price of a new solid line.....

Pirtek are good, but not known for cheapness.

Noo :bom: , I'm a bit lost as to any real alternative to paying a specialist 300 plus the labour and am well up for suggestions :P , not an immediate job as it really is just a weep and the car is in the garage but I would like it done as it's all the car needs mechanically.

Ask JMG what they think?
Jon will give you an honest answer and he is the technical adviser to this forum.

Rich , cheers , I appreciate you say Pirtek and I have heard of them of course however if the specialists wont do it its certainly not a job I can do so I'll be a bit stuck we'll have to see.

I would be interested to know how JMG would deal with it as they of course may also say , no you need the Porsche lines. There is a job I have in mind for JMG already on the tuning front so it could end up a combined job in the future who knows.
