Hi guys, I'm thinking of investing in a bridge spoiler for my 944, give it a bit more of a modern look maybe as the other ones starting to look a bit tired and worn. Anyone have one? or know someone who's fitted one to there 944? If so do they look any good?? |

Attachment: ebay 07 016 (Small).jpg [ 48.5 KiB | Viewed 5567 times ] Well I think it looks good. Fiting is not for the faint hearted. Better get a tailgate with the spoiler already fitted. You have to completely refurbish the rear hatch to do it anyway as you can't drill the holes with the glass in. The holes are within 1mm of the glass edge. Very easy to touch it & wreck your hatch. Also the bottem trim will need replacing to cover the old holes for the originel spoiler. Having done it when my old hatch came unbonded. I wouldn't want to go there again. Porscheapart & others are a good souce. Aftermarket spoilers sold on ebay are the wrong shape & don't look right to me. You may need the rear wiper as there are two types. Or you can just plug the hole. |

Heard a lot bad reports of the ebay copies. Best to get a complete tailgate and swop over as J.J said, as getting the rubber one off is very dificult and then you got to try and get the bridge one back on and align. 968turboS ones are quite nice aswell, £150 for a complete hatch ![]()

I've got as bill in my file for a replacement colour coded bridge spoiler - obtained from Porsche, fitted (and presumably painted) elsewhere. I'm just glad I didn't pay - it isn't for the faint hearted! Looks good though! |

Bridge spoiler, I have recently fitted an OPC 968 bridge spoiler to my 1990 S2 to replace the original rubber one It is quite easy to fit if a bit fiddly There is no need to undertake any drilling at all to the tailgate Where guides go wrong is to recommend that the tailgate is drilled to accomodate the rearmost bolt on the side surrounds, these bolts are only stuck on with glue and can easily be reglued in the required position [this is not however the case in after market kits where the bolts are embeded in the surround] but even then it should be posible to cut off the bolt and stick on a new one in the required position by making a small plate. I looked at a number of 968 tailgates with bridge spoilers and found most of them fairly scruffy the sun affects the demister element and the black surround flakes off. The test I used was, would I want this tailgate on my car? I fitted the bridge spoiler and surround to my original tailgate and can assure you that it is not at all difficult. The fiddly bit is making and fitting the small backets which hold on the rear surround. There is a very infomative article on the subject on rennlist. |

My spoiler had to be physically forced into position. Stickaflex takes 24hrs to go off properly so the screws had to hold it in place for that long at least. No way stuck on bolts would have held. None of the original bolt holes were in the right place. Drilling was the only option on mine. The hatch I got to fit it to needed a full refurb anyway so no way around that or it would have looked awful. Don't understand about the brackets as my trims just snapped over the edge without any difficulty. That was the easy bit! Having pre drilled the frame. Then with the glass in place I just had to spot through the trims & drill into the spoiler. I was using a second hand bridge spoiler with no bolts & it was twisted. Maybe a new one is easier to fit? But how much did it cost?? |

I realy dont know what you are talking about? The original 968 side surrounds to the spoiler have stuck on bolts I can only suggest that you purchased a distorted after market spoiler hence your difficulty. My second hand spoiler cost £165 including the three piece surround and the three rubbers I then had to get it colour code sprayed |

Fleabay has a supposed original 968 bridge spoiler but it does look like it was removed with a crowbar ![]() http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/Porsche-bridge-sp ... 563613fadd |

Have you got any photos of yours as would be interesting to see. I removed my spoiler from the old hatch that was beyond repair. (Resealed with epoxy by sombody.) Refitted it to my new refurbished hatch. Not the same as buying a new one. All it cost me was a couple of tubes of stickaflex & a lot of time. Hatch was £15 off ebay. (Had it painted with the spoiler at the same time as another job for free.) Cured the rattle & it doesn't leak. Edit. I don't have the side trims. Look at my photo above. Just the bridge. Which is original. |

I cant post a photo because I dont have the knowlege, I dont know how to do it. But it looks the same as can be seen on any original 944/968 with a bridge spoiler. |

The rubber spoiler comes to far less harm when you forget that the garage door is not as high as the fully open hatch!! |
