Does it tend to work in other peoples 944s? Mine doesnt and I have tried taking the motor apart. When I reconnected it the thing did 'rotate' so the motor itself seems fine. I suppose it is likely to be the switch whihc has failed but is there a way of 'shorting' the connections on the back of the switch to identify if it is indeed the switch to blame?

Cheers!

Pop the switch out, there aren't many terminals on the back of it. If you have a test light or multi meter you should be able to find out if there is power to the switch and coming out of it.
