Post subject:  Noisy wiper motors
Hi guys.

I recently replaced the rear wiper motor as the old one was very loud. It has improved it a fair bit but still quite loud.

The fronts are pretty loud too (I mean the motors and not the wiper blades). Has anyone else got the same problem and found a cure (other than rain-x :wink: ).

I know its probably an 'anal' question but I hate noisy and rattles other than the engine.

Mine are quiet so can only think yours are very tired. Bearings die eventually. For the front check the condition of the linkage & motor & it's mounts. Any play will make it noisy. Porsche apart will sell you a good linkage & motor if yours is past it's best. For the rear. Couple of tap washers & a stainless bolt is the best option. (Wiper delete :) ) It wipes the wrong side anyway.

Bit of lubrication often does the world of good - lubricate all the bearings, particularly on the motor. Don't recommend WD40 - something gloopy like Lithium White Grease. I used to motorcycle chain lube - it's runny to get in then goes gloopy and doesn't wash out in the rain. Considering they're out in all weathers and never get lubricated it's amazing these mechanisms last so long!

I've taken VW wiper motors apart in the past to lubricate the gears and bearings - it quietens them down, but I'm not sure how easy this is on a Porsche motor.
