Ok, Im trying to spread some love here.

A mate has contacted me and told me that he has just bought a car that has been scrapped as part of the nations scrappage scheme.
He owns a salvage centre and is allowed to break the car for parts - but has to scrap the shell.

He doesn't want much for the parts on the car and i was thinking of stripping it down and selling the parts on Ebay. However, time pressures mean that this is not going to happen.

I am therefore offering it up to guys - if you fancy doing some vulturing.

Car is a 1982 944 2.5 finished in Alpine white. Interior is pinstripe cloth. Car is based in Thame in Oxfordshire. The car is located trade@asm-autos.co.uk 01844 266

Mas, i am in the same boat.

I don't need anything for my 951, but a mate who has a Y plate car has asked for the plastic clips that hold the sunvisors up on the roof.

I'm not sure i can spare an hour or so to go and get these...

I'd gladly drive up there and get a few bits but its the cost of fule these days . It would cost me more to get there and back than getting the clip from Porsche I suspect.

We probably need one of us local get a few bits and pay for their petrol or something.

Saying that when I can bother re the clip I'm sure there will be a car breaking on e-bay just thinking out loud really :D

I was going to buy a car for spares for me and anyone else as I have room but I was a bit bothered re getting rid of the shell as I live down a country track.

I think it is a crying shame that car was scrapped.
It certainly does not look like a wreck.
:(

Thanks Stepa1007 - My love affair is just starting. Its still a fantastic car even at 23 years old.
I'm planning on getting a set of uber rare 16" early offset (ET23) tele-dials this weekend.
Just how it left Stuttgart !

Back on track.....
There has been lots of comments about the scrapage scheme. Mostly negative. Good cars that have historical importance are being scrapped.
I don't want to start a thread of moaning - the only solace is that we can get parts to keep our cars running from this one.

The scrappage scheme is criminal I agree.

I have been breaking an early 944 for a few weeks and nobody seems to want anything. I suppose its about being in the right place at the right time.

I can feel a long drive coming on.
I need quite a few parts off an early 944 and this has exactly the same colour interior as mine which helps.

What a waste. I wonder what he/she replaced it with, probably a Hyundai seeing as they have sold more than anybody else under the scheme, or perchance a nice little Kia Picanto... anyway whatever he's bought it won't last as long as the 944 did - unless of course he's bought a new Porsche.

It's a good job we're not all like this person. He/she probably doesn't realise that the shiny new thing he/she has bought has probably already depreciated more than the £2000 scrappage allowance they saw as such a bargain (unless it was a new Porsche).

I may be interested in the bonnet if it has no dents, also the roof and head lining, I've seen a pic of a bonnet fitted in the back of a 944, not sure how easy it was to get in and out though.

Madrob - If theres enough interest - i could go and pull parts off next week?

Im in Swindon Wilts - which isnt far from Oxfordshire.

I just dont want to go all that way for the two plastic clips my mate needs.

The plastic clips for the sunvisors are £2.50 each brand new from Porsche. Or they were earlier this year when I had to get one to replace the one the windscreen fitters broke taking the screen out.
