I cannot get rid of the vibrations that come through the gear stick at around 1600 - 1800 and 3000 - 3300 rpm. This has been happening for a couple of years now. I've recently had the cam belt, balance belts and all rollers changed - no improvement. The guy who does it is careful to check the alignment of the balance rollers. It has now been suggested to me by a Porsche owner (although he's only got two 911 turbos from the eighties) that the vibration could be caused by a combination of wear in the clutch and the torque tube - both of which have been on the car for the whole 194000 miles to date. Anybody had any experience of problems like this? |

Yes, it is possible to have bearing failure in the TT that could cause this vibration. Keep in mind that pretty much any driveline defeciency can be transmitted back through the shifter. To include CV's, rear wheel balance, RW bearings, loose RW, incorrect torque specs if using spaces, etc.... Another common failure that has similiar chracteristics is the transmission mounts. |

Torque tubes to to wear and become noisy frequently, but Id say that it was more of a 924 problem. |

How sloppy is your gearshift? It could be the gearshift lever that is at fault (the pin wears out over time). You can either get a new gearshift lever, shim it out with a metal bush (EMC do this), or do the Buchanon Upgrade which is to convert the shift lever to 968 spec (it apparently will never go again). |

Torque Tubes tend to rattle a bit, I've never heard of one failing. |

Check your engine mounts,a lot of times that is where the vibration comes from! |
