Post subject:  944 Turbo Clutch Kit Needed - Urgent!
OK guys. RE my gear select issue it is the clutch. Ouch!

Car is now on a ramp with gearbox out and no one in the country seems to have a clutch kit available. More ouch!

I have tried Frazerpart, Porschapart, Porscheshop, GSF and Euro car parts to no avail. The part has been on back order since June with no expected delivery date.

OPC is quoting £1k.

Can anyone help me out here?

Did you try Bert Gear and Berlyn Services?

He can get you the part next day....

951 specialists may have one in stock.

Worth calling the likes of Hartech, JMG garage and some of the bigger indies too?

They don't have one either. It appears no one anywhere has one.

You could try 944.com in the USA,they ship to the uk you can phone them direct number on web site.
Not cheap about 1000 us.

Lindsey racing do many different types. There service is good. It's easy to ring them up thanks to the time difference. They ship UPS but with customs you may still have to wait a week. Have you tried JM garage?

Thanks guys. I tried JMG and the best they could do was £750 inc vat delivered. They were the only people I found with one on the shelf.

I have got one from the US. It is a sachs kit and cost me £350 plus £90 for delivery. There have dispatched it with UPS.

This is pretty much on a par with the Frazerpart price I had already budgeted for so quite happy.

Incidentally, the part is on back order from the supplier with no due date and no one in the UK has any except OPC who want about £1,200 after vat!

The guy in the US has another 3 left at the price I paid so might be worth getting one if you think yours is on the way out. They are very hard to get at the right price as I found out today. :(

Maybe I'll reconsider trashing the mammories off the Rose at every set of lights.

There are 3 piece clutch kits readily available here in the US, starting @ 375.00 GBP for 944 NA (83-91) and 490.00 GBP for all Turbo models. Kit:
3-piece package includes all original equipment Sachs clutch components. Contains New Pressure Plate, New Clutch Disc, and New Throw-out Bearing. Get all 3 pieces, plus your choice of sides.

There complete 944 "Super Clutch Kits" readily available here in the US @ 586.00 GBP for 83-91 944 NA and 633.00 GBP for 944 Turbos:

New 944 Pressure Plate
New 944 Clutch Disc
New 944 Throw-out Bearing

I do not what the duties are there, but this is just an option.

But if he was willing to pay 1000 GBP there, the duties would have to be 400-500 GBP to make it not worth the while....just a thought.

No clutches in the UK!!!! - that's horrendous news

Did you try Porscheshop at all? I went to their open day last weekend and the owner said they were working hard to make sure parts were always available for our older cars. Has anyone else had trouble locating everyday consumables for 944s?
