Hi all, used the car yesterday and all was fine.
Come to use it today and neither elcectric windows would work.
I have checked number 8 fuse and that is fine but i replaced it anyway and still no result. I put an electrical tester on the fuse and there is power to it.
I cant see that both switches would have gone overnight, too much of a coincidence??
Is there anything i should check first. Is there a relay for the windows. Checked the clarks page and cant see a relay listed for them.
What with my heater on constantly i need to get them working or i shall cook on the journey to work!!
Cheers
Shaun

Sorry, should have added, there is no list on the clarks fuse/relay diagram for a window relay though it does refer to one in window trouble shooting but does not explain fully where it is on the fuse panel for early 944's. Im guessing at the relay but as i say i dont know where on the fuse panel it is situated.

Shaun,
The same "hot" wire feeds both switches at the drivers side pod. It is possible that you have a corroded/bad termination point at the first switch. This would cause no power to the first, hence no power to the second.

Since you have verified power leaving the FB, that is where I would look next.

And what do you mean you have heat blowing ALL the time? Is this present even with the controls off? If so that is an easy fix....

Cheers for that, will check the wiring to the switch tomorrow. Just incase that isnt the source of the problem where will i find the relay for the windows?? It isnt on the main fuse board is it?
As for the heat problem its an ongoing issue. Constant heat through the vents regardless of where the controls are situated. I know on the later dash models its usually the little plastic clips but on my early dash i think its the cables at the back and short of removing the dash up till now ive lived with it as i can open the window to relieve the problem.
If anyone has a pic of the window relay and where its situated it would help me out.
Cheers

Shaun,

Not sure of your year, so here are both:

the earlier models have a relay mounted under the dash on our (USA) drivers side. Look for a 4-pin plug in connector, the relay is in front of that (towards you). I am not sure if the location is the same on UK models.

on later years (85.5 and up) the relay is #G7 and the fuse is number 4.

Hope this helps and good luck :)
