Hello,

Is there such a thing as a 924 with manual windows? Has anyone converted to manual windows?

Its for my track car.

Thanks

Neil

Pretty sure that european builds did come with wind up windows. Genuine UK imports were all imported as Luxes

An early car could have been a grey import. AFN imported a lot from Germany in the early days.

Until the 1980 model year, the great majority of 924s had manual windows and non-electric door mirrors, the exceptions being the UK Lux spec cars which had the electric windows and door mirrors and some the 5 speed Getrag box.

I've just sold a 1979 model year Lux with the exposed fuel filler and no side repeaters but with electric windows and door mirrors and the optional Getrag box. My other three early cars (all 1977 models, including 2 Martinis) all had manual window winders, non-electric door mirrors and 4 speed boxes - I say had as one of the Martinis has been fitted with aftermarket electric windows.

I don't know how easy it would be to fit manual window winders in place of electric ones but I suspect the parts all come from the VW/Audi parts bins.

I got mine off an 84 944 (lhd) and they are a direct bolt in swap for the elcetric motors. The only issue is some cars dont have two hole positions for the bolts so may require some aditional holes drilling depending on which doors you have. The manual winders wil fit the doors with the single bolt holes but when you crank the handle it will hit the dashboard (on oval dash cars not sure about square dash ones) hence them needing to be fitted in the lower of the two holes.
