Is it me or are 944 Lux just fetching hardly any money at all ? .

It seems 2'7's and ess's are quite desired at the mo but the 2.5 lux doesnt seem to get the appreciation it deserves. I would like a nice ess i have to say. Quite nicely looked after examples ( if they are what they seem ) of a 2.5 lux can be had for less than 1500 quid even with recent belt changes. I have been tempted to buy one or two just for the wheels

Ironically there is a complete non runner on e bay at the mo that the guy wont even let you try and start though it was 'fully running when put away' (mmm) at nearly 500 quid ( with time to go) yet a 944 with history and cup alloys sold for only £800 more.

Seems totally bonkers to me, wonderd of anyone felt similar or maybe not !

While I'm here is it just me who hates 1986 teledial wheels , are they sellable second hand, because I may be selling a set 'very' soon :P

Regards Mas

I'm interested in a few parts from a 2.7, in most instances it would be cheaper to buy the complete car and scrap what I didn't want.

Most of the 944s 2.5s I saw for £1.5k were tired old dogs that looked glossy but did not go like a 944 should.

Sadly there are loads of 2.5s that deserve to be scraped. They haven't had the maintenance which is so expensive for these now. And they wouldn't pull the skin off a rice pudding. 90 at the wheels is not uncommon. A fit standard lux can manage 125 & with some modernisation & care lots more. Mine did 140 last time on before fitting the head. They all look shiny in the pics but when you go & look at them most have rot in the sills & wheel arches etc & will need £££ spending on them to get them through the next mot. Loads of people won't even look at the 2.5. It has to be an S2 even though tired ones will make less power than a fit lux. Sure the good ones are better but there like hens teeth. So many rusty examples now. Until most of the dogs are scraped I can't see it changing.

A9XXC's 944 managed 149BHP and that's got around 180k on the clock. Again with the cam timing sorted it can probably be pushed to around the mid 150s, maybe 160 if they're lucky. I am not sure if I can agree with saying they produced 120BHP. Whilst they're not quite hot hatch territory they certainly will show up 1.6/1.8 engined hatchbacks with around 100BHP and similar weight (or at least I came to that conclusion when I drove a number of tired 944s).

I think in reality you need around £2.5k to get a half decent one. I'm not saying you won't get something half decent below that money, but it's not likely.

I'm talking horsepower at the wheels. Thats at least 20% below flywheel. Some dynos will be over 20% more than this figure as it's good for business. The 2 I use don't Bull. :) A genuine Ford GT40 did just 240 at the wheels just before my '44 went on. I expected it to be better.
