Hi All,

Is there any particular mileage of when you should get a top end rebuild done on a S2? Or are there any particular symptoms which would indicate a top end rebuild is required?

My '89 S2 has aound 109k miles on the clock.

Regards

IMO keep on driving it.

If you do want to improve the power etc. get your cam timing checked as that is often out on an old 944. Restoring this to stock values via a dial gauge can give as much as a 15BHP improvement.

When you set up the top end with two DTIs, one for TDC, in the cylinder - where do you put the second? The book says on top of the follower, but there was no room at all......? Made a bridge to hang both magnetic bases off but couldnt get my DTI on the follower, do they mean cam lobe?

I think they mean the cam lobe. If that still makes no sense, maybe ring up EMC Motorsport and see if they can give you more info.
