Any good tips for this? Mine has been crumbling for a while and I want to remove it. I removed the foam but there is a layer of adhesive left behind and it looks like it will be a bu**er to remove. ![]() Cheers. |

I'd try a solvent like brake cleaner, but don't use it on a on a hot engine & DO NOT get it in your eye as it hurts like hell AMHIK! |

Hi ![]() It is an absolute b*****d to remove...eventually I bought 4 cans of Glue remover from CPC, which worked perfectly...spray on...wipe off...etc. Someone recently told me petrol works well , but be very careful with it lol.... All the best Brett ![]() |

If you find anything better let us know. Still havn't done this with mine yet........ Quite fancy some of that reflective stuff like foil but it costs an arm & a leg. |

Cheers for the tips fellas. I will see about getting some glue remover and try that. As usual a fingernail seems to work well but it will take forever! |

Hi ![]() Ummm not sure foil would be a good idea....reflecting all the engine heat back into the engine bay, might make it overheat.... The padded stuff as far as I know is to cut down noise....not heat... On my 928 I have removed all the bonnet pad and just have clean blue ally...not noticed any difference, but mine is a "little" noisy anyway (think 130 Db on full chat)...lol All the best Brett ![]() |

WD40 sprayed on, left to soak, and then rubbed off with a towel moves most sticky residues. Everytime I have removed badges off things I have used this method to get rid of the sticky backing that's always left on. |

I would agree about the foil it will probably reflect too much heat back into the engine and cause problems, you can buy replacement foam sections from Porscheshop from memory around £60 per side but I would probably leave it clean once you have the glue off same as the S2 that has no foam under the bonnet except for a tiny square over the middle drivers side about 6" sq. Correction to the Porscheshop price £36inc VAT either side so £72 both sides not too bad really and if you can't get the glue off completely just stick some new foam on top. |

250 T never had foam either. My first one got badly sctatched by a cat sleeping on the bonnet on a camping trip. If I'd have caught it I'd skinned it as I'd just had the car Teflon coated. Dave Is it the NE meet this weekend? Stephen |

The adhesive is an absolute swine. I have given up. I spent a few quid on some 'sticky stuff' remover from Wilko's but it was like headbutting a brick wall. I will try the glue remover that Brett suggested next. ![]() |

Petrol is the best glue remover on the planet and the cheapest. Be careful with it though ![]() |
